“The Sudden Whale Tail” – 48” x 30”
This piece, entitled “The Sudden Whale Tail”, is the interpretation of an
experience on his paddle board in 2019 about a mile offshore of Oluwalu,
Maui. A friend yelled, “There’s a whale behind you!” As soon turned back
around to view the front of his board, a whale’s tail suddenly appeared. The
whale stayed present with James-David for several minutes.
Artist James-David Meredith, is a resident of Maui, avid water sportsman,
as well as a hiker and cliff diver. His creative work on metal is influenced by
his first-hand experiences on the water.
Moving through life from the construction business as a creator of outside
entertainment environments, to building movie sets in Los Angles, he’s
found his true passion manipulating metal to tell the stories of phenomenal
encounters with whales, dolphins, and other sea life.
James-David has had numerous close encounters with whales, dolphins,
and other sea life. He’s currently working on a series of pieces to tell those
stories. “The Sudden Whale Tail” is the first in this series. His other subjects
include flowers, lighthouses, heart-n-soul connections.
