Since before I knew how to write all the letters of the alphabet, I was dreaming of becoming a published author. Putting words together for others to read, sharing thoughts and feelings to connect with like-minded individuals is a dream of mine. Whether it’s my latest journal entry, a poem I wrote in the middle of the night, or the entirety of a manuscript I spent months and months writing, words are my lifeline, how I process my life and those around me, and how best I share the inner workings of my heart and soul…

ABOUT Liz

Liz Robbins' third collection, Freaked, won the 2014 Elixir Press Annual Poetry Award, judged by Bruce Bond. Her second collection, Play Button, won the 2010 Cider Press Review Book Award, judged by Patricia Smith. Her chapbook, Girls Turned Like Dials, won the 2012 Yellow Jacket Chapbook Award. Her first collection, Hope, As the World Is a Scorpion Fish, was published by The Backwaters Press in 2007. Picked Strings, a recitation of poems from Play Button, is available through iTunes.

In 2015 she won the Crab Orchard Review Special Issue Feature Award in Poetry. She’s also won the Florida First Coast Writer’s Festival Award in Poetry, judged by Robert Bly, as well as the Douglas M. Freels Poetry Trust Award, an Intellectual Life grant, and a Schultz Foundation grant. She’s been nominated for the Pushcart Prize by Fugue (in 2016), Parcel (2014), and Redactions (2007).

She’s an associate professor of poetry writing and composition at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, where she lives with her husband, Don Robbins, and their labradoodle, Saffi.
